At Garroway’s Coffee House, Change Alley, Cornhill on Tuesday the 15th day of March 1836 at Two O'clock in the afternoon-:

All that valuable Freehold Property called The Wilderness and Belle Vue situate by the south side of the hill in the Dane in Margate. Comprehending a newly erected residence with 2 sitting rooms and 4 bedrooms and dressing room on the ground floor. Most excellent dining drawing and billiard rooms with kitchen and servant’s bedrooms, warehouse, wine and coal cellars and every other domestic office. There is also a newly erected cottage, whilst with every trifling expense may be converted into a porter’s lodge coach house and stables etc.

The Grounds

Comprise 2 acres nearly 1 acre and a ˝ is most tastefully laid out having been planted with a great variety of trees evergreens and shrubs ( all in most flourishing condition) form a complete labyrinth, The basin with Jet d’Au in the centre of the lawn surrounded by statues and busts add greatly to its beauty and as the Estate is on the hill the view along the valley to Saint Peters on the one side and the Town of Margate the Pier and the sea etc on the other can never be destroyed.

The Estate is plentifully supplied with rain and spring water and the whole site is enclosed by a brick wall.
