Dogs, Hot Under The Collar
Imagine wearing a fur coat in hot weather...your dog unfortunately doesnít have a choice. So here are two tips to help them to keep cool.
When itís really sweltering, most dogs need very little encouragement to take a dive in a paddling pool. A small inexpensive childrenís pool with a moderate amount of water in should do the trick. If however you donít want a soaking wet dog trailing through the house, fill a plant mister with water and spray the dog periodically. Under the collar is particularly effective as thatís where the jugular vein is.
We all love an ice-cream on a hot day. Well hereís a recipe for a doggy version: Mix a large container of live natural yogurt (with no sugar) with grated carrots, apples (raw or cooked) or lightly cooked ground liver. Ladle into ice-cube trays and freeze. Theyíll love you for it!
